On the island of Hydra, where light and art have long attracted creators from around the world, the Historical Archives Museum of Hydra hosts You Won’t Forget Her!, a striking solo exhibition by Japanese artist Kimiko Yoshida, presented by Fondation Valmont as part of its ongoing commitment to contemporary creation.

On view from June 1 to July 26, 2026, the exhibition marks the artist’s first presentation on the island and extends Fondation Valmont’s dialogue between art, place and emotion.

Kimiko Yoshida’s work unfolds as a continuous act of transformation. Through meticulously staged self-portraits, she transcends the notion of identity, embodying a multiplicity of figures shaped by art history, memory and imagination. Each image is constructed entirely in front of the camera, without any digital manipulation, through the precise application of make-up, textures and materials, turning her face into a living canvas.

Echoes of iconic artworks run throughout her practice, not as copies, but as reinventions. Yoshida inhabits these references, absorbs them, and transforms them. The result is a suspended image, where past and present meet on the surface of the body, and where disguise becomes a means of revelation rather than concealment.
