Da oltre vent’anni, Sophie Vann Guillon infonde energia creativa in Valmont, spingendo costantemente Valmont oltre i confini dell’innovazione cosmetica. Fin da bambina, quasi come un preludio alla sua futura Svizzera – dove tradizione e competenza nella cosmetica cellulare si fondono in un’unica essenza – Sophie scomponeva di nascosto i prodotti di bellezza delle sue zie, affascinata dai loro segreti. Una curiosità innata che presto avrebbe gettato le basi per una carriera dedicata alla scienza della bellezza.
L’alchimista creativo
Da oltre trent’anni, Didier Guillon infonde in Valmont una creatività senza limiti, reinventando costantemente il confine tra arte e cosmetica. Pronipote di Charles Sedelmeyer, rinomato mercante d’arte, e pronipote di Stanislas Lami, stimato scultore, Didier Guillon ha ereditato una passione familiare per l’arte che si riflette in ognuna delle sue creazioni. Fin da giovane, immerso nella bellezza delle opere d’arte e nelle storie dei suoi antenati, ha sviluppato una sensibilità artistica unica.
Charles Sedelmeyer, mercante d’arte di origine austriaca naturalizzato francese, è Il Precursore, l’origine della nostra storia, la prima identità della Fondation Valmont. Nato a Vienna nel 1837, dà vita a una collezione straordinaria, un vero e proprio museo.
Esperto e competente conoscitore, è prima di tutto un difensore dell’arte: acquistare e incoraggiare diventano le due parole chiave della sua attività.
Il ritratto di Charles Sedelmeyer, firmato da Gabriel Ferrier, risale ai primi anni del XX secolo. In Francia, i grandi nomi delle avanguardie europee sono già noti: i Cubisti, i Futuristi, Giorgio de Chirico, Marc Chagall…
Ma lui, Charles Sedelmeyer, li osserva da lontano, dalla sua residenza presso il Château d’Ambleville. La fervente esplosione artistica che infiamma Parigi, all’epoca capitale dell’arte, rimane distante dai suoi interessi prevalentemente classici. A lui si deve, però, l’origine delle grandi collezioni americane.
Questo immenso bagaglio culturale è il punto di partenza delle attività della Fondation Valmont che, al contrario, si discosta dal rigore accademico per abbracciare l’ignoto, l’esplorazione e il contemporaneo.
L'importanza di questa figura emblematica – mercante, intenditore e difensore dell’arte – si inserisce perfettamente nel racconto che la Fondation Valmont vuole trasmettere: un omaggio che guarda al passato, con il desiderio di uscire dai sentieri battuti dell’arte.

Sin dalla sua fondazione nel 2015, la Fondation Valmont ospitata nell’intimo Palazzo Bonvicini a Venezia – culla dei profumi Storie Veneziane – si è affermata come una forza dirompente nel panorama dell'arte contemporanea. Didier Guillon, suo fondatore, ha concepito questo spazio come un santuario dedicato all'arte in tutte le sue forme. Un rifugio in cui gli artisti possono esprimersi liberamente e i visitatori sono invitati a immergersi in un mondo di emozioni e bellezza. La sua missione? Promuovere l'arte contemporanea, favorire il dialogo interculturale e sfidare le convenzioni artistiche. Questa visione è oggi portata avanti da Maxence Guillon, che dal 2022 affianca il padre nel proseguire questa missione familiare.
Se la Fondation Valmont fosse un dipinto, sarebbe probabilmente una tela in continua evoluzione, capace di catturare l’essenza dell’arte e della bellezza in un gioco di prospettive proiettato verso il futuro. Inviterebbe a ripensare il proprio rapporto con l'arte e la natura, ad apprezzare ogni istante e a trovare benessere nella semplicità e nell’autenticità. Da questo affresco vivente emergerebbe un rifugio dove ogni dettaglio conta, un invito a sentirsi a casa. Un mondo nutrito di sogni e desideri, che offre uno scorcio su… un futuro incantato.
Ma la Fondation Valmont non si limita a esporre opere d’arte: crea momenti artistici unici. Attraverso mostre itineranti, come quelle dedicate all'iconico IVO di Didier Guillon, e temporanee a Venezia, come Ego, sfida i circuiti artistici tradizionali. Sono state presentate oltre 300 opere d'arte e più di trenta artisti hanno collaborato con la Fondation Valmont, contribuendo alla diversità e alla ricchezza della scena artistica contemporanea. Viaggi come questi invitano l'individuo a scoprire nuove prospettive e a lasciarsi emozionare.

La mostra. Ivo celebra la libertà: l’arte incontra la bellezza
Per questa mostra d’arte contemporanea, Valmont Korea e Fondation Valmont hanno ideato un percorso completo, intelligente e creativo. Un’immersione nei colori della Tanzania e nel motto della Maison: “When Art meets Beauty”.
Suddivisa in più zone, la mostra inizia con un’area dedicata al brand Valmont e alle sue tre iconiche linee: Valmont, Storie Veneziane e l’Elixir des Glaciers.
Poi, come un invito a scoprire il suo universo colorato ispirato ai tessuti tanzaniani, appare Ivo. Ivo serigrafato a colori o intagliato nel cartone. Serigrafie e puzzle, talvolta giganti, per un’incantevole immersione nei motivi dei kitenges, tessuti che vestono le donne e le tradizioni della Tanzania.
The marvelous immersion continues in a projection room, where for the first time and in exclusivity, Hope images are unveiled. The movie retraces the moving journey in Uganda of a 16-year-old girl, Valentine Guillon, accompanied by a cameraman, Cyril Ducottet, to meet Ivo in his natural world.
L’ultima area espositiva è una mano tesa.
