Fondation Valmont is proud to announce that “Hansel & Gretel – White Traces in Search of Your Self” exhibition will be held from May 11th to November 24th 2019 in the context of the Venice Art Biennale in its new exhibition place: the “Palazzo Bonvicini”.
Hansel and Gretel are two children lost in the forest.
Aren’t we all lost at some point? Maybe among the crowd, or in our everyday occupations
They cannot go back home, as they don’t know where it is, and their parents don’t want them any more.
A time always comes when you feel different and abandoned because of that difference
They can only go deeper into the forest, even though they don’t know where they are going.
Just go ahead, something will happen
Something horrible lies in the heart of the forest.
You knew life would be tough, but not this tough
Only after going through that, do they become adults, and can finally go back to their family home to change the story.
Hansel & Gretel – White Traces in Search of Your Self, is an exhibition that takes the shape of a symbolic journey along the charming rooms of Palazzo Bonvicini, in the heart of Venice. The three artists, Isao, Didier Guillon and Silvano Rubino, start from their personal memories, then give space to their creativity with installations that guide the visitors through the steps of the story : the home, the forest, the trap, the return. Finally, they sketch a vision of the future that opens up once the beginning and the end have closed the loop.
